Lecture & discussion with Counselor Vugar Gurbanov (Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Azerbaijan, Washington, DC)

Mr. Gurbanov is a Political Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States. He is a career diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2005.
Prior to his current position, V.Gurbanov worked at the Political-Military, Security Affairs and International Security departments of the Foreign Ministry. He also worked for the Mission of Azerbaijan to NATO.
For more than ten years at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Gurbanov worked on a number of important issues dealing with Azerbaijan’s national security policy.

Prior to joining the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Gurbanov worked for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense. Before serving in the military, Mr. Gurbanov worked as a research assistant at the Caspian Research Center of Baku State University.

Mr. Gurbanov has a BA from Baku State University Master degrees from Baku State University (2001-2003, graduated with distinction), College of Europe in Bruges / Belgium (2007-2008), and National Defense University in Washington DC (2014-2015, distinguished graduate). Moreover, he graduated from a non-degree Advanced Security Studies course at the George C. Marshall Center for European Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (2006).leasa
